Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS COSMETIC TATTOOING?

Cosmetic tattooing is when coloured pigment is implanted into the dermis layer of the skin. This process is done with tiny, sterile, disposable needles. It is intended to give the appearance of hair strokes, brow tint or makeup, hence the name permanent makeup.

DO YOU SHAVE THE EYEBROW HAIR COMPLETELY OFF WHEN TATTOOING THEM?

We do not completely shave the brow hair off when tattooing your brows, we want to include as much of your natural hair possible to keep the shape as natural as we possibly can. We do however use a razor to remove any stray hairs around the pre-draw shape.

DOES BROW TATTOOING HURT?

Each individual will have a different pain threshold. A topical anesthetic cream and gel are used throughout the procedure to provide numbing. Small amounts of discomfort are to be expected however every effort is made to ensure you are comfortable throughout the entire procedure.

IS BROW TATTOOING PERMANENT?

Brow tattooing is considered a permanent procedure. Your brow tattoo can last 1-10 years with a possibility of it lasting even longer. Traces of pigment will always be present in the skin. Your body will metabolise the pigment slowly over years, this is when our brows fade or slightly change colour.

HOW LONG WILL MY BROWS TAKE TO HEAL?

Healing time differs in individuals, however anywhere from 7-14 days following the correct aftercare.

CAN I HAVE BOTOX TREATMENT BEFORE MY EYEBROW TATTOOING PROCEDURE?

Yes, however you must not have any anti-wrinkle in the area for at least 2 weeks before or after your treatment. We do not tattoo the areas where anti-wrinkle is injected but will be applying pressure around your brow and forehead area which may impact your anti-wrinkle treatment.

Why are there different appointment types?

Cosmetic tattooing is not just a one and done treatment, we do need to maintain them to keep them looking fresh.
- Your initial appointment consists of an in-depth consultation, a thorough pre-draw to design your perfect brow, the tattooing procedure and aftercare.
- 6-12 weeks after your initial tattoo you will have your second appointment which is your perfecting appointment. It is at this appointment where we touch up any imperfections and adjust the colour if needed.
- 12-36 months is your colour boost appointment, this will keep your tattoo looking fresh and revitalised.

What is hyrbid dye?

Hybrid dye permanently dyes the hair for 7 weeks or until the hairs grow out. The dye will stain the skin for up to 7 days. Hybrid dye has a slightly longer processing time than normal tint, it gives a bold more defined look.

what is a brow lamination?

A brow lamination is a 2 step chemical process. Step 1 involves saturating the hair in a solution that breaks down the bonds of the hairs that allows us to set the hairs in a different direction. Step 2 involves re-saturating the hairs in the second solution which re-bonds the hairs and setting them into the new direction. We pair this treatment with a hybrid dye, sculpt and a keratin treatment to give the best results.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT COLOUR IS GOING TO SUIT ME?

A consult is always included in your very first appointment where we discuss your personal preferences. We assess your skin tone, eye colour and natural hair colour, which will help decide the colour choices that will suit you.

What if i have over tweezed my brows in the past?

With an in-depth consultation we can discuss all options available to you. If brow tattooing is not the answer for you, we also offer a hybrid dye or tint which will stain the skin filling in any gaps and giving the illusion of fuller brows.
